Project Spotlight: BGCI Providing Remediation Sitework for Nutrien
BGCI is providing site remediation work in Geismar, Louisiana, for Nutrien, the world’s largest provider of crop inputs and services. The remediation work is part of the ongoing decommissioning of a phosphate plant that closed in 2018.
Our scope of work includes the removal of 320 timber piles and the excavation and removal of approximately 79,000 cubic yards of contaminated material. After all contaminated material has been removed, BGCI co-workers will backfill the site with approximately 79,000 cubic yards of clean, uncontaminated soil.
Nutrien is evaluating its Geismer location as the site for the world’s largest clean ammonia facility. If the project is approved, construction could begin in 2024.
